I don’t see why the word cancer makes most people just automatically shit themselves. It’s a fucking horrible, horrible thing but it’s okay to talk about it.
I can’t stress how much it annoys me when you try to talk about a family member with cancer or what have you and your friend just goes ”omg I’m so sorry” and acts awkward for the rest of the conversation. I know it’s not their fault but ahh.
It’s because it is a horrible, horrible thing and a lot of people have really bad experiences of t and the mention of it brings up horrible feelings and memories. So in situations where it’s mentioned they act like that because that’s the only way they know how, it’s all they have to associate with the word.
